The exterior perimeter of the museum is devoted to events and processes, while the interior perimeter expands on the great names in the history of Russian oil industry

On the 300th anniversary of Russian oil industry: a new museum opened in Moscow

Moscow, May 25 - Neftegaz.RU. Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin and President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov took part in the grand opening commemorates the 300th anniversary of Russian oil industry and 30th anniversary of LUKOIL.

Museum exhibition employs unique objects and multimedia technologies to tell about the history of Russian oil industry and of LUKOIL's place in today's fuel and energy complex.
Sergei Sobyanin said:
  • There are no oil rigs or oil fields in Moscow, but there are many people in the capital who develop academic science, applied science, and education, and who work for the country's oil industry
  • Therefore, of course, the 300th anniversary of the oil industry is also a significant event for Moscow
  • If the 1st museum, which we opened at VDNH, was more devoted to educational processes and told about oil production, exploration, transportation, processing, then here is the history of Russian oil industry, starting from the 1st Baku rigs and ending with modern oil fields, processing
The exhibition tells about the origin, formation and development of the Russian oil industry.
The 700 sq. m. exhibition space consists of 21 thematic zones:
  • World of Kerosene
  • World of Petrol
  • Nobel Brothers Oil Production Society
  • Technological Revolution of Engineer Schukhov
  • LUKOIL World and others
The museum's exposition is the largest in Russia on the subject.
It has one-of-a-kind artefacts, such as memorial collection of a great Russian engineer V. Shukhov, documents and personal belongings of legendary industry leaders (I. Sedin, N. Baybakov, V. Shashin, V. Filanovsky, V. Grayfer, L. Rovnin, I. Gubkin) and other eminent oil workers and geologists.

The museum features a number of original technological solutions: an immersive zone with a 360-degree screen, promo visors with 3D-holograms of LUKOIL's notable facilities, as well as an elaborate grand model with video projections devoted to oil production in the Russian Empire.
