Brasilia, September 22 - Neftegaz.RU. The Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation
Rosatom and the Brazilian nuclear power plant operator Eletronuclear have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the sidelines of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (
IAEA).
The memorandum was signed on behalf of Rosatom by
Kirill Komarov, 1
st Deputy Director General and Director of the Development and International Business Unit, and on behalf of Electronuclear by the company's President - Leonam dos Santos Guimarães.

- Brazil is one of the key partners of the Rosatom State Corporation in Latin America

I am confident that the signing of the memorandum will help us open a new stage of fruitful bilateral cooperation, as the country has embarked on the course of expanding the share of nuclear generation in the National Energy Balance
The memorandum provides for development of cooperation in areas such as the construction and maintenance of large and small
nuclear power plants in Brazil, extension of the lifespan of nuclear plants in operation in the country, processing of nuclear materials, closed nuclear fuel cycle and
radioactive waste management, implementation of joint projects in the areas of education and
training.
Leonam dos Santos Guimarães noted:
- For Eletronuclear, this bilateral cooperation instrument signed with Rosatom is an excellent opportunity to further expand our business, particularly to meet the needs of nuclear energy generation in our country
Within the scope of the cooperation, the parties plan to analyze opportunities to implement specific joint projects, exchange information, including holding informational meetings, workshops and seminars.
