Moscow, January 14 - Neftegaz.RU. The Danish engineering company Ramboll, which is involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, refused to participate in the project due to fears of US sanctions.
Rambøll and the Nord Stream 2 operator said they would not comment on the case.

Ramboll is an engineering, architectural and consulting company established in Denmark in 1945.
The company is involved in many international large-scale projects.


The US Congress approved new sanctions against the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany in December 2020.
Companies that provide insurance and certification services necessary for the completion of construction are subject to restrictions related to Nord Stream 2.

On January 2, the Norwegian company DNV GL announced that it will not be able to issue a certificate of compliance with the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which is necessary for its operation.

The Danish Energy Agency announced on January 7 that the laying of pipes of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark will begin on January 15.

The the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was supposed to be completed by the end of 2019. However, the construction was prevented by the sanctions of Washington, which considers the Nord Stream a threat to Europe's energy security.
