The incident occurred when a crane bumped into a hatch on the drilling installation West Epsilon, which lies next right to it. The 357 kg-hatch fell 15 meters and struck a man in the face and foot. He was seriously injured.
The PSA immediately ordered BP to stop all crane operations of the type that caused the accident.
BP must confirm that the order has been complied with before the cranes are used.
BP was summoned to a follow-up meeting with the PSA following the Valhall accident, where the observations of the investigation team were reviewed.
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has issued an order to BP Norge AS (BP) as a result of a personal injury on Valhall on April 2, 2004.
