The Nigeria Labour Congress announced a general strike scheduled for November 16 in protest against rising fuel prices. It also called Royal Dutch/Shell, whose joint venture pumps almost half the country's oil, an ?enemy of the Nigerian people.'' The senior oil workers union said it hasn't decided whether it will join the strike.
Experts say that the such a situation with Shell ?a very, very ominous sign.?
Crude Brent futures for December delivery climbed 62 cents to $49.60 a barrel on London's IPE, and traded at $49.30 at 10:06 a.m. London Brent reached an intraday record of $51.50 on Oct. 12.
