The gas pipeline was ruptured on Thursday between the compressor stations of Ilyaly and Deryalyk close to the Turkmen-Uzbek border.
The Turkmen eastern gas pipeline from the Dovletabad gas field to the Deryalyk station on the Turkmen-Uzbek border annually exports 42–45 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Russia.
Russian energy giant Gazprom earlier said that the pipeline accident would not affect gas supplies to its consumers.
