Transneft Far East announced on July 6, 2016, that the company took additional preventive efforts to protect Stage 2 of East Siberia Pacific Ocean (ESPO-II) pipeline system from tidal waves in rivers crossed by the oil trunk pipeline route.

A challenging hydrological situation in rivers of Amur Region, Jewish Autonomous Region and Khabarovsk Region does not affect ESPO-II oil pipeline operations.

Transneft Far East professionals increased protective efforts in connection with the HydroMetCenter’s negative forecast of tidal waves in the Amur River caused by heavy rainfall and water discharge by HPPs. Work is performed to protect the site facilities (oil pump stations, communication hubs, production service shops) as well as the linear portion of Stage 2 of East Siberia Pacific Ocean pipeline system.

The locations of the oil pipeline crossing water obstacles are in the focus. Water level in the Amur and three other rivers, Zeya, Tom and Arkhara (Amur Region), is monitored on a 24/7 basis. Pictures of river beds are taken, and the water flow hydrological review is carried out.

24/7 observation points are set up in the most difficult sites.

The number of flyovers of the linear portion increased; flights are carried out daily. Oil transportation is carried out on a routine basis.
