PGNiG on the start of another renegotiation of gas prices from Gazprom

PGNiG announced on November 1, 2017, that the company continues its gas price review proceeding against Gazprom and Gazprom Export in the Stockholm Arbitration Court, for gas delivered, since November 2014, under the long-term gas supply contract of September 1996.

PGNiG expects the dispute to be settled within the upcoming few months.

The time schedule of the arbitration proceedings has been extended, as a result of an illness of the arbitrator appointed by Gazprom and Gazprom Export.

Aside of the ongoing arbitration, on November 1, 2017 PGNiG submitted an application to Gazprom and Gazprom Export for an initiation of an additional, new process of renegotiation of the contract price, for gas delivered under the above-mentioned long-term contract as of November 1, 2017.

In September, Poland’s Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said Poland aimed to stop importing natural gas from Russia after 2022.

The country wants to become completely independent of Russian gas supplies not to be vulnerable to potential «political action» by Moscow, Waszczykowski told reporters at the time.

He also said that Poland wanted to have «the possibility of importing natural gas from other, politically safe, directions.»
