People Forfeit Lives for Iraq New Government Appointment

Yesterday in Baghdad, while Iraq?s new government was announced, dozens of people were killed and wounded in bomb blasts.
In the capital of Iraq the headquarters of a key Kurdish party which had ties to Washington was blown up by a car bomb, which broke inside. The blast left a 3 meter-wide crater outside the offices of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
To the north of the city a suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle at the entrance to a US military base.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Campbell, a US officer at the scene, only three people were confirmed dead and 20 wounded.
The bomb explosion was one of several blasts heard in the capital just after reports circulated that Mr Ghazi Yawar, current head of the Iraqi Governing Council, had been selected as president of the interim government set to take power on June 30.
The suicide blast near the oil-refining town of Baiji, 180km north of Baghdad, killed at least 11 Iraqis and wounded 20 others and two American soldiers.
