Fuel Leaks After Crash

Tanker loses fuel after crash

FIRE Brigade and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff were working today to contain 7000 litres of diesel fuel spilt in Sydney's west.

A diesel tanker crashed into a stationary vehicle in the carpark of a fuel storage facility this morning, causing a rupture to the tanker. Thousands of gallons of diesel fuel then gushed down a drain into Duck River, which feeds into the Parramatta River.

Six fire units were called to the scene in Parramatta Rd, Auburn, about 3.30am (AEST).

The crew of a fire brigade watercraft floated several booms to contain the spill about 1km down Duck River.

"We've kept it well back from Parramatta River," NSW Fire Brigade spokesman Ian Krimmer said.
