PGNiG chartered 2 new LNG vessels from Knutsen

The Polish company chartered 2 more LNGCs from Norway’s Knutsen for its contracted supplies from the US

PGNiG chartered 2 new LNG vessels from Knutsen

Warsaw, July 30 - Neftegaz.RU. PGNiG will be their sole user for 10 years, with an option of extension.
The vessels, each capable of carrying 174,000 m3 of super-cooled gas, will be built exclusively for the PGNiG Group and will enter service in the 1st half of 2024.

  • It is an optimal solution, ensuring certainty and at the same time flexibility of logistic operations, which are an important element of building competitive advantage
PGNiG has already contracted its 1st 2 LNG carriers in 2020, also with Knutsen Shipping.
In total, the Polish company has now chartered 4 vessels from Knutsen.

The company said it plans to use these LNG carriers primarily to transport contracted volumes from US liquefaction facilities, contracted by PGNiG in FOB trading formula..
PGNiG did not reveal the name of the shipyard but Knusten has ordered the previous 2 LNG vessels at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The share of Russian gas in total gas imports by Poland´s PGNiG remained at the level of approximately 60 %.
In 2015 it accounted for almost 90 %.
