The project will reduce fuel oil output, increase the refinery yield to 97%, and create synergy with the catalytic cracking units already in operation.
Light products yield of the Nizhny Novgorod refinery will reach 74%.
In 2021, LUKOIL commissioned PENEX isomerisation unit, which produces high-octane blending fuel by applying low-temperature isomerisation to light naphtha.
The launch of the unit increased the isomerisation facility feed rate to 800 000 tonnes per year, thus allowing to raise annual petrol production by 400 000 tonnes.
A polymer-bitumen binders production unit also started operating at the refinery last year.
The new unit, with seasonal output of over 150 000 tonnes, expanded LUKOIL's bitumen products range by introducing modern modified products and innovative polymer-bitumen binders.
The unit already produced 16.9 thousand tonnes of binders.
Vagit Alekperov concluded his visit by a working conference with the leaders of LUKOIL Group organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
