At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for intensification of the dialogue between Rosneft and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan, as well as interested Japanese companies, over various areas of the Committee’s work. Possibilities of increasing supplies of crude and petroleum products from Russia to Japan, opportunities for cooperation in the LNG sector, upstream and petrochemical projects, equipment manufacturing and supplying, and research activities drew special attention.
Rosneft has an experience of sustained, successful cooperation with its Japanese partners. For instance, in 1996, the company attracted a pool of foreign companies, including SODECO, to the Sakhalin-1 project, the stakes at which are held by the Government of Japan, Japex, Itochu, Marubeni, Inpeх. This year, the Sakhalin-1 project celebrates its 25th anniversary.
