The TPP, built by the Turkish company Cengiz Enerji and located in the Tashkent region, will produce 1.9 bln kWh of electricity per year and cost $150 mln.
Power plant will be operated by Cengiz Enerji for 25 years.
The natural gas to be used in the power plant will be supplied by Uztransgaz, Uzbekistan's gas supply company.
Uzbek 1st deputy energy minister Azim Akhmedkhadjaev said:
- The thermal power plant and a gas piston plant, both employing the very latest technology, will contribute greatly to the efficiency and capacity of Uzbekistan’s energy production
- In total, there are 6 plants built by Turkish countries in Uzbekistan, 4 already completed, 1 new commissioned and another 1 with construction just started – demonstrating the close Uzbek-Turkish energy cooperation
The $140 mln plant is scheduled to open in September.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy, energy-saving devices will be featured in both plants, enabling savings of 440 million m3 of natural gas per year.
