Ashgabat, April 27 - Neftegaz.RU. The Center for Hydrogen Energy, opened on the basis of the Turkmen International Oil & Gas University (IOGU), has begun active work.
The creation of the Center was the result of steps taken by Turkmenistan to promote energy diplomacy.
Its main task is the training of high-level specialists, the development and implementation of innovative scientific and educational programs in production in order to create and develop the hydrogen energy industry in Turkmenistan.
IOGU specialists participated in a conference on the topic «Development of a roadmap for the commercial development of nuclear-hydrogen energy for the development of the industry», organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In January, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution on adoption of the Roadmap for the development of international cooperation of Turkmenistan in the field of hydrogen energy for 2022-2023.
At the same time, it is proposed to create the IRENA hydrogen energy center in Turkmenistan, draw up the national strategy for developing hydrogen energy in the country, and involve foreign experts in this work.
Hydrogen could be an attractive avenue for fossil fuel exporters to help diversify their economies and develop new export industries.
In the future, the specialists of the Center, based on the study of world experience, will develop and make proposals for the introduction of advanced innovative technologies for the production of hydrogen energy in Turkmenistan.
In October 2021, Turkmenistan’s major oil refinery Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries announced an international tender for the design, construction and commissioning of a hydrogen production unit.
