A radical transformation began in the 2nd half of the 1980s with the discovery of large natural gas reserves here.
The field was put into pilot production in 1986.
Today, 91 wells operate here.
This gas production complex reliably provides «blue fuel» to settlements, as well as facilities for various purposes in the eastern region of the country.
In 2021, the ceremony of commissioning a new gas compressor station at the Malay field was held.
The commissioning of with an annual capacity of 30 billion m3 increased the export supplies of Turkmen gas.
The complex, which occupies about 12 hectares, includes 2 production workshops – «A» and «B»:
- The 1st of them will make it able to fully develop the Malay field
- The 2nd workshop is designed for high-pressure pumping of gas from the Uchadzhi, Galkynysh and Dovletabat fields to the Malay-Bagtyyarlyk gas pipeline
Production from Malay field contributes to the overall volume of gas transported via Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.
