Gazprom Export signed 1st deal to sell gas to Turkish market via electronic sales platform

Gazprom Export signed 1st deal to sell gas to Turkish market via electronic sales platform

Moscow, November 17 - Neftegaz.RU. Within the trading session on the Electronic Sales Platform (ESP) on 11 November 2020, Gazprom Export successfully concluded a deal for the sale of natural gas with delivery to Malkoclar point in December 2020.

The volume of gas sold was about 700 thousand cubic meters. This is the first transaction for the supply of Russian gas to the Turkish market, performed via ESP.

Gazprom Export continues to expand geography of sales through its Electronic Sales Platform. We are very pleased that the gas market of Turkey has shown interest in concluding a deal through ESP, in addition to the longstanding cooperation based on long-term contracts, " said Elena Burmistrova, Director General of Gazprom Export.

Greater natural gas price competition and the increased share of renewables and local resources in Turkey have seen the reduction of Russia’s share of Turkey’s natural gas imports. Gazprom's quarterly report for 9 months reported that in January - September 2020, Russian gas supplies to Turkey fell by 25% compared to the same period in 2019, to 8.854 billion m3.
