Almost 100 km has been built on the Power of Siberia section from the Kovyktinskoye to the Chayandinsky field

China started importing Russian gas through Power of Siberia in December 2019, with contracted volumes at 5 bln m3/yr for the 1st year.

Almost 100 km has been built on the Power of Siberia section from the Kovyktinskoye to the Chayandinsky field

Irkutsk, January 27 - Neftegaz.RU. Oleg Aksyutin, Head of Department at Gazprom, and Igor Kobzev, Governor of the Irkutsk Region, had an extended meeting on January 26.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing efforts for creating the Irkutsk gas production center (GPC).

In late 2022, Power of Siberia will start to receive gas from one more field - Kovyktinskoye, which serves as the basis for the Irkutsk GPC.
To achieve that, Gazprom is constructing a section of Power of Siberia stretching from Kovyktinskoye to the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia.

It was noted that:
  • the work to prepare the Kovyktinskoye field for full-scale production is going on schedule
  • Development drilling continues
  • the filling works are underway for the top-priority well clusters
  • 2 comprehensive gas treatment units and access roads are being built at the moment
As of now, a total of 98 km (12 % of the section's length) out of the 803 km of the linear part has been welded, laid, and backfilled.

Currently, pipeline Power of Siberia receives natural gas from Chayandinskoye, the largest field in Yakutia (1.2 trillion m3 of recoverable gas reserves).
Kovyktinskoye is the largest field in eastern Russia: its recoverable gas reserves amount to 1.8 trillion m3.
