Alireza Ebadi said:
- Iran has generated almost $360 billion in revenues over the last 20 years by selling the gas field’s products, including gas condensates, natural gas and its derivatives
More than $80 billion has so far been invested in South Pars.
The field saw its output increase 2.5-fold from 2013 to 2021.
Ebadi noted:
- The South Pars joint gas field is blocked in such a way that it has the highest efficiency and exploitation, and considering that Qatar has about 60% of the total area of the field, the amount of recovery should be measured taking into account this issue
Currently, the daily gas production capacity of the Iranian section of South Pars, with 37 production platforms, 372 wells, and 3,200 km of 32-inch subsea pipelines, has reached 700 million m3 per day.
Iran shares the South Pars/North Dome field, the largest in the world, with neighboring Qatar.
Iran started developing its own portion of South Pars about 20 years ago
