- With the planning made in the past few months for the development of the upper Asmari layer of Abouzar field, a new well called A14-4H was drilled in this reservoir
- After the completion of the well and its commissioning, oil production from this reservoir was realized for the 1st time in history of the field’s development
- Plans are now underway for drilling more wells to further development of this reservoir and it is predicted that with drilling 5 to 8 new wells
- Production of 6 000 to 10 000 barrels of oil from this reservoir will become possible
- On Ghar (with 4030 million barrels of oil in place and 1730 million barrels of reserved oil)
- Bergen (with 118 million barrels of oil in place and 31 million barrels of reserved oil)
- Dammam (with 138 million barrels of oil in place and 18.4 million barrels of reserved oil) reservoirs
In May 2021, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said that Iran could boost its crude oil production to as much as 6.5 million bpd when the U.S. sanctions on its oil industry are lifted.
Iran currently pumps around 2.5 million bpd and last produced close to the 6-million-bpd mark in the early 1970s.
