Nur-Sultan, March 9 - Neftegaz.RU. Kazakhstan´s Energy Minister Nurlan Nogayev spoke of the works ongoing at the Kashagan oilfield at a meeting of the Energy Ministry’s Board, Kazinform correspondent reported.
The concept of Kashagan’s large-scale development is under preparation, the minister added.
The project is expected to result in production of additional 800 million m3 of commercial gas and creation of new jobs as well as a rise in oil production from 8 to 10 million tons.

This year it is planned to begin construction of a gas plant with a capacity of 1,150 billion m3 of raw gas and estimated at $860 million at the Kashagan oilfield, the minister said.
The gas processing plant, set to come online in late 2021, will meet the demand of both domestic and foreign markets.
According to the minister, all the facilities of pilot and industrial development stages are operational, with the production capacity of 400 000 barrels a day.
However, the average daily production stands at 280 000 barrels due to the restrictions introduced in May 2020 by the Ministry.
Kazakhstan is the world’s 9th-largest crude oil exporter, accounting for 3% of the world’s total oil reserves.
More than 90 % of Kazakhstan’s oil is concentrated in its 15 largest fields, which include Kashagan, Tengiz, and Karachaganak.
