Bolivia: 10 Heads of states expected to attend Gas Forum

Nearly 10 heads of state will attend the 4th Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG), to be held in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz, said Hydrocarbons minister Luis Alberto Sánchez on October 23, 2017.

The Bolivian minister confirmed the arrival to Bolivia next month of Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who will attend the event as an observer.

According to Sánchez, the participation of the leaders of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, and of Brazil, Michel Temer, is also in process at the meeting of the FPEG, which will take place in the city of Santa Cruz, from November 21 to 24.

Bolivia has already confirmed the attendance of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hasan Rouhani of Iran.

Currently, members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum are Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Bolivia, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.

Meanwhile, observers are the Netherlands, Iraq, Oman, Peru, Norway, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

A month from now Bolivia will be the energy center of the world, said Sanchez, adding that there is no other meeting of its kind that can be compared of that of Santa Cruz.

The FPEG represents an association that accounts for more than 70 % of the world's gas reserves and is responsible for 40 % of that gas supply through pipelines.
