Tokyo, July 18: Japanese stock exchanges fell Friday morning after investors sold technology issues because of the US Nasdaq's weakness. The dollar weakened against the Japanese yen.
The Nikkei Stock Average of 225 stocks was down 0.97 percent, at 11,495.69 points at late morning. On Thursday, the index fell 33.82 points, or 0.29 percent.
The dollar was quoted at 109.46 yen at 11 a.m. Friday, down 0.18 yen from late Thursday and below the 109.60 yen it bought in New York later that day.
In currencies, on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's the euro fell to $1.2016 from $1.2039 late Thursday. Against the yen, the euro fell to 131.56 yen from 131.92 yen.
