Crude Soared To $50

Crude oil prices rose almost to $50 a barrel on Monday after the U.S. Northeast blizzard boosted demand for heating oil, moreover, coming Iraqi elections and OPEC meeting also kept prices near an eight-week high.

U.S. light crude climbed 56 cents to $49.09 a barrel, building on Friday's $1.22 rally.

A blizzard caused temperatures to be lelow the seasonal average, driving homeowners to fire up their furnaces. The weather is expected to return to near-normal conditions by Tuesday, said forecasters Meteorlogix.

Heating oil prices climbed 1.5 percent to a one-month high of $1.4050 a gallon.
