Crude oil prices plunged Tuesday, edging closer to $50 a barrel, as US report suggested a slowdown in global oil demand.
The May futures contract for light, sweet crude closed down $1.85 to $51.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchang, the lowest it has been since the last week of February.
