US light crude slid 47 cents to $48.20 a barrel after falling as low as $47.60, a fresh three-month low, on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Meanwhile, Benchmark Brent crude contract eased 87 cents to $47.79 per barrel at the IPE in London.
