Crude oil prices on the global markets slid nearly $2 a barrel to a three month low on Wednesday, after the US official data indicated US crude stocks at their highest level in six years.
Light, sweet crude futures for the delivery in June fell $1.72 to t $47.25 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
According to the US Department of Energy's inventory data, US crude oil inventories rose to 334 million barrels in the week ending May 13 from the previous week, an increase of 34 million barrels from a year ago.
