Gold Price Slid

Gold futures fell slightly in New York on Monday when the market initially fell in reaction to the most recent Commitments of Traders data, but recovered most of a modest decline late in the day on short covering encouraged by ongoing strength in crude-oil prices, analysts and traders said, Dow Jones reported.

August gold contract slipped 30 cents to $441.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
