Wall Street stocks closed mixed Tuesday as higher oil prices pressured the market.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 5.83 points, or 0.06 percent, to 10,513.89 points. The Nasdaq composite index added 7.72 points, or 0.36 percent, to 2,143.15 points. The Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 2.77 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,222.21points.
On Tuesday, crude oil futures rose for the first time in four sessions after a US government report showed greater-than-expected production losses caused by Hurricane Dennis. However, analysts were pleased that the market did not sell off heavily after the previous session's gains, especially with oil prices climbing sharply.
