A man has been arrested in connection with a death threat made against an opponent of a proposed New York Stock Exchange
A man has been arrested in connection with a death threat made against an opponent of a proposed New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) deal, US police said, BBC World News reported.
New York police confirmed the arrest was linked to a telephone threat made against NYSE member William Higgins.
Mr Higgins has been a vocal opponent of the terms of the NYSE's bid to merge with US electronic market Archipelago.
NYSE member Edward Reiss, of New York, surrendered to officers in connection with the case, police added.
The alleged death threat was made in July and had been left on the voice mail system of Mr Higgin's lawyers.
"I am grateful for the swift, professional work by the New York City Police Department... in arresting the man suspected of making a direct threat on my life," Mr Higgins said in a statement released by his lawyers.
