Russian oil once again flowed to Poland as the price dispute between Moscow and Belarus appeared to be nearing an end.
Tomasz Zakrzewski, spokesman for Polish pipeline firm PERN, said Russian oil began to flow into the Belarussian system at around 10:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday. He did not mention the volume.
Russia turned off the tap of the Druzhba pipeline through Belarus on Monday evening, stopping oil supply to Poland and other east European countries.
The row broke out after Russia moved to impose duty on oil exports to Belarus last month. Minsk responded last week by slapping a tax on Russian oil pumped across its territory.
Through harsh negotiations, the Belarussian government on Wednesday evening lifted the transit tax on Russian oil shipments, signaling a turning point in the oil spat.
However, the oil transit stoppage in the Druzhba, or "friendship" pipeline as it is also known, aroused doubts about Russia's oil supply dependability among European countries, who take a quarter of their oil from the former Soviet giant.
