UK Stocks Rose

U.K. stocks advanced, led by Alliance & Leicester Plc and Northern Rock Plc.

BG Group also rose, after India's Economic Times newspaper reported that the company may sell its stake in Mahanagar Gas Ltd., the only gas distributor in Mumbai.

The benchmark FTSE 100 Index increased 35.2, or 0.6 percent, to 6,464.2 at 8:37 a.m. in London. The FTSE All-Share Index gained 0.5 percent to 3,316.72. Ireland's ISEQ climbed 1 percent to 7,875.54.
