Oil Prices Inched Up

Oil prices rose in Asian trading Thursday after slipping more than $2 a barrel in the previous session amid concerns that crude inventories in the United States are growing even as the economy and fuel demand are cooling.

Light, sweet crude for March delivery rose 61 cents to $87.60 a barrel in Asian electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midmorning in Singapore.

The contract fell $2.22 to settle at $86.99 a barrel on Wednesday.
