There has been a $2.4bn loss to the state's economy since the June 3 explosion on Varanus Island
The gas crisis in Western Australia has put a $6.7bn hole in business production forecasts, the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry says.
The CCI's June quarter report, released today, says there has been a $2.4bn loss to the state's economy since the June 3 explosion on Varanus Island.
The incident has caused an energy supply crisis across the state, with 17 per cent of the businesses surveyed by the CCI citing a direct impact from the outage.
Thirty-three per cent of the 300 companies that took part in the questionnaire have been indirectly affected by the crisis, the CCI says.
The private sector is exporting additional gas from the North-West shelf to help meet demand.
Full production at Varanus is not expected to resume until the end of the year.
