Fresh deepwater oil discovery off Brazil

Moscow, November 1 - Neftegaz.RU.Petrobras informs that it has confirmed the presence of oil in the area Co-participated in sepia with the drilling of well 4-BRSA-1386D-RJS, in the extreme northwest of the field

The well is located 250 km south of the city of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 2197 meters, and its drilling began on 07/31/2022, about 3 months after the signing of the sepia ECO block consortium contract (surplus of the onerous assignment).

The oil-bearing range was verified by means of electrical profiles and fluid samples, which will later be characterized by laboratory analyzes.

The effective thickness of the oil column is one of the largest ever recorded in Brazil.

The consortium will continue operations to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs found and verify the extent of the discovery.

The Coparticipated area of Sépia consists of the Sépia block, acquired by Petrobras (100%) through the onerous assignment agreement, signed with the Federal Government in 2010, and the Sépia - ECO block, which was acquired in December 2021, in the 2nd round of bidding for the excess volumes of the onerous assignment, carried out by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and biofuels (ANP), by a consortium composed of Petrobras (operator), TotalEnergies, qatarenergy and Petronas Petróleo Brasil Ltda., with pre-Sal Petróleo S. A. (PPSA) as manager.
