Vienna, April 28 - Neftegaz.RU. CEO of OMV, Rainer Seele, will not seek a 1-year extension of his term of office beyond June 30, 2022, ending 7 years at the company's helm.
He informed OMV's supervisory board of his decision on April 26.
A successor was not named.
Seele, who had been the head of German BASF's oil and gas subsidiary Wintershall since 2009, succeeded Gerhard Roiss at OMV July 1, 2015.
In 2020, Industriemagazin ranked him 7th on its list of the most influential Austrian managers.
During his time, Seele maintained good relations with Russian exporter Gazprom as a gas importer and co-financier of Nord Stream 2 – Wintershall and Gazprom had a gas marketing operation, Wingas – and expanded the company's exploration and petrochemicals businesses.
With OMV Group sales revenues of EUR 17 billion and a workforce of around 25,000 employees in 2020 (incl. Borealis), OMV is one of Austria’s largest listed industrial companies.
The company is set to invest EUR 500 million in innovative energy solutions by 2025.
