The UK engineering group Rolls-Royce has edged out General Electric and another US competitor to win a $150 million contract to supply compression equipment to China's huge 3,900km west-east pipeline.
The company said the pipeline would form the backbone of a future grid of Chinese gas pipelines, including one planned to run from Siberia to China's north-east coast.
"We will certainly be bidding for those (projects)," said Jim Finley, vice-president for global energy business sales.
