Harmony's Workers To Stop Strike

The strike has cost the company $18 million in sales

Harmony's Workers To Stop Strike

South Africa's third-largest gold producer Harmony Gold said its biggest labor union agreed to end a strike.

The company said that today an accord will be signed, which will return 20,000 miners to work and prevent the strike from spreading to the rest of Harmony's mines.

The strike has cost the company $18 million in sales.
Regional leaders of the National Union of Mineworkers were meeting with members this morning, Harmony?s spokesman Moferefere Lekorotsoana said.

"Workers have not agreed yet, but we feel we have something to sell to them,'' Lekorotsoana said in a phone interview.

"Regional leaders will report back later today.''
