Russia's oil transporting company Transneft launches construction of the controversial Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean Oil Pipeline this month, Russia?s Industry and Energy Minister announced yesterday.
According to Viktor Khristenko, the first stage of the project needs 200 billion rubles overall.
The construction is to launched in April, he said.
Propelled by President Vladimir Putin, the project is launched despite a raft of protests of nature protection organizations, emphasizing its obvious threat to Baikal Lake and environment.
