Harmony CEO May Change Post

Harmony?s CEO Bernard Swanepoel may be down, but he's not out.

He says he sulked for 30 minutes about rival Gold Field's move to take control of gold mine South Deep, but then he realised it was good for the gold industry in South Africa. "It's like wanting your neighbour's house but then someone comes along with more money and buys it first.
Other CEs have been fired for less, but Swanepoel firmly believes that his major shareholders know him, want him and believe in him.

"That my job may be threatened, in the context, that's an observation which has got validity. But there's no shareholder revolt. But yes, my God, there have been tough questions in board meetings," he says.
