Shell: Ceaseless Fire At Nigeria Pipelines

A fire at Royal Dutch Shell's major oil export pipeline in Nigeria drags on for a fifth day, but output and exports weren’t touched.

Fire extinguishers don't get an access to the fire spot cause of the angry locals blocking the way.

Note, that the same situation happened last year.

The cause of the incident is not yet identified, but it may well be done on purpose.

Disputes between local communities and oil multinationals are common in the Niger Delta, a vast impoverished region that is home to Africa's biggest hydrocarbon industry.

There were six different points on the pipeline that blazed last year and it took a while for the oil giant to extinguish.

Two separate attacks in May last year made the company stop the production thus loosing up to 170,000 barrels per day output for a few days.
