The office will allow GE to quickly respond to the needs of regional municipal, utility and industrial customers as Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) seek to modernize their energy and petrochemical infrastructure systems.
The new facility is part of GE’s strategy to expand its local operations in Russia. Through the center, GE will be able to more effectively expand and integrate the activities of its Power & Water, Energy Services and Oil & Gas divisions with those of its customers and partners in the region.
Currently, 140 people work for GE Energy in Russia. However, GE expects its Russian workforce to expand as the company continues its localization efforts in the country and as customers modernize their energy assets.
To that end, GE Energy will be hosting two recruiting days in Moscow - one in March and one in April - to identify prospective candidates for Russia-based field engineering positions.
An important feature of the new Moscow site is its product demonstration and training area, where educational programs, conferences, product training and hands-on operational experience will be offered to employees of both GE and its customers.
