Vietsovpetro celebrated its 35th anniversary and launched a new Tam Dao-05 Jack Up Drilling Rig

Zarubezhneft announced, that in vietnamese Vung Tau on August 12, 2016, on the occasion of the founding 35th anniversary of Vietsovpetro, the ceremonial event took place.

Vietsovpetro was established in 1981 in accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement between USSR and Vietnam. Zarubezhneft and PetroVietnam became its participants.

In 2010, the senior leaders of Russia and Vietnam took the decision on continuation of cooperation within the frameworks of Vietsovpetro, and on December 27, 2010 in Hanoi the Intergovernmental Agreement was signed to extend the Vietsovpetro’s activity for another 20 years, until 2030.

On behalf of the Russian part, the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy Kirill Molotsov, Chairman of the Zarubezhneft’s Board of Directors, Evgeniy Murov, General Director of Zarubezhneft, Sergey Kudryashov, as well as veterans who worked at Vietsovpetro in previous years.

On behalf of the Vietnamese part, the event was attended by the Vice-president of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice-Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, General Director of PetroVietnam, Nguyen Vu Truong Son and General Director of Vietsovpetro, Tu Thanh Nghia.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary celebration, the Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev has sent the official congratulation addressed to the Vietsovpetro, in which he has marked that the cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in the energy sector is traditionally of strategic nature. No other international oil & gas company can impress with such a long-standing history based on mutual trust and warm friendly relations.

On the same day, August 12, 2016 in Vung Tau, at the PV Shipyard’s (subsidiary of the Vietnam Oil & Gas Group PetroVietnam) construction site, a solemn ceremony of the Tam-Dao Jack-Up Drilling Rig’s delivery to JV Vietsovpetro was held.

Tam Dao-05 Jack-Up Drilling Rig has added to the fleet of the floating facilities of JV Vietsovpetro and become the 5th in succession of this type. In 2016, for a period of 7 months, Vietsovpetro drilled more than 59 000 meters, completed construction of 18 production and exploration wells, including the wells using the Murmanskaya Jack-Up Drilling Rig, which is currently being prepared for work on the Block 12/11.

The participants of the ceremony have stressed the large significance of this project which was aimed at strengthening of the technological potential and capacities of the joint Vietnamese-and-Russian enterprise Vietsovpetro.

Technical specifications of the Tam Dao-05 Jack-Up Drilling Rig make it one of the most demanded rigs capable of operating at the significant part of oil and gas-bearing shelf of Vietnam. Its 750 tons design capacity enables drilling the wells to the depth of 9 000 meters. The jacket leg length reaches 147 meters that allows drilling off the shore at the depth of up to 120 meters.

The rig is equipped with the most up-to-date equipment of the leading world producers. Total specific amount of metal of the rig is 18 000 tons, and admissible aggregate load on the rig is 6 100 tons.

The cost of the project totaled $200 mln and JV Vietsovpetro acted as its investor.
