St. Petersburg, October 15 - Neftegaz.RU. A working meeting between Gazprom´s CEO Alexey Miller, CEO of Azerbaijan´s SOCAR, and Member of the Executive Committee of Shell took place on October 12.
On November 21, 2017, Gazprom Export and SOCAR signed a contract on gas supplies to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting with Socar´s CEO Rovnag Abdullayev was focused on gas supplies to Azerbaijan.
It was noted that Gazprom’s deliveries to the country in the period between November 22, 2017 and the present day totaled 1.15 billion cubic meters. The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in that area.
Maarten Wetselaar, Member of the Executive Committee of Shell and Alexey Miller discussed relevant issues related to bilateral cooperation, including the Baltic LNG project. Emphasis was placed on the priority measures aimed at developing a joint design concept (pre-FEED).
The Baltic LNG project envisages the construction of an LNG plant with the annual capacity of 10 million tons in the port of Ust-Luga. In 2017, Gazprom and Shell inked the Heads of Agreement to set up a joint venture for the purposes of implementing the Baltic LNG project. On October 4, 2018, the companies signed the Framework Agreement on the joint design concept for Baltic LNG.
Gazprom and Shell also reviewed the ongoing preparations for the construction of the 3rd train of the LNG plant within the Sakhalin 2 project. Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the continuing construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
