South Korean Industry & Trade Minister Moon Seung-wook and QatarEnergy CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi attend the signing ceremony.
It is the 1st time in 2 years since 2019 that a ministerial level meeting was held between the countries in the field of industry and energy.
Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said,
- We are pleased to sign this agreement on hydrogen to expand our strong relations into new horizons of cleaner energy including our long-established strategic partnership in the field of LNG
- We believe hydrogen has an important role to play in the energy transition towards an affordable, reliable and clean energy system, but only if relevant competent entities, such as QatarEnergy and H2Korea, join hands to achieve this goal
After assessing that the new long-term LNG contract signed in July has further solidified the LNG cooperation between the countries, Minister Moon requested Qatar’s cooperation so that Korea’s gas supply and demand can be stable despite the recent rapid fluctuations in the gas market.
H2Korea is a public-private advisory body established by the Korean government in 2017 to promote and develop the hydrogen industry with the aim of early access to the hydrogen economy in the country.
