The pipeline is also designed with the potential to expand its throughput capacity up to 20 bcm/a.
TAP transported more than 8.1 billion m3 of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe in 2021, of which 6.8 bcm total had been carried into Italy.
Azerbaijan has been delivering natural gas through the TAP to European markets since December 2020.
TAP starts at the Turkish-Greek border and runs along 773-km onshore and 105-km offshore routes traversing Greece and Albania toward its end destination in Italy.
TAP’s shareholding is comprised of bp (20 %), SOCAR (20 %), Snam (20 %), Fluxys (19 %), Enagás (16 %) and Axpo (5 %).
