Moscow, December 15 - Neftegaz.RU. Russian gas giant Gazprom said Dec. 14 its gas supply to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline continue to be above contract levels, and it plans further increases to deliveries in 2022, Platts analysed.

The Gazprom-CNPC talks came on the eve of a video conference between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping scheduled for Dec. 15.
Gazprom said:
  • In November and December, in line with mutually beneficial agreements reached between Gazprom and CNPC, daily gas export volumes to China are significantly above the previously-agreed plan for 2021
Gazprom did not give new details on the scale of increased supplies in the last 2 months of the year.
The company said previously that it expects to supply around 10 Bcm of gas to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline in 2021.

The company said Dec. 1 that supplies via the pipeline began to rise above contract levels on Nov. 2 and have exceed daily contractual obligations by more than a 3rd.

«Gazprom continues to prepare for a further planned increase in gas exports in 2022, in accordance with the dynamics of increased supplies stipulated in the contract», the company said.

Gazprom did not give fresh details or planned delivery volumes in 2022.

The company also gave an update on progress on a feasibility study for construction of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline to supply Russian gas to China via Mongolia, during the meeting.

Since 2020, Gazprom has been assessing the viability of deliveries to China via Mongolia of up to 50 Bcm/year. In April 2021 a feasibility for the Soyuz Vostok line was approved.
