1st billion cubic meters of gas supplied via Turkish Stream

St. Petersburg, January 28 - Neftegaz.RU. Gazprom announced, that the company supplied its first billion cubic meters of gas via the TurkishStream, the 930 km gas pipeline. Of that amount, about 54 % went to the Turkish gas market and some 46 % was delivered to the Turkey-Bulgaria border.

Turkish Stream is an export gas pipeline stretching from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea. Its design capacity is 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said the launch of one of the “largest construction projects in modern history” marks a “historic day” for the world energy development as a whole.

Commercial supplies via the gas pipeline commenced on January 1, 2020. On January 8, the presidents of Russia and Turkey held a grand opening ceremony for Turkish Stream in Istanbul.

The pipelaying for Turkish Stream took 15 months and was completed in November 2018. The construction of the receiving terminal near the Kiyikoy settlement in Turkey was finished in 2019.
