Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Friday that a highway from the capital to the Pacific Ocean would open this year as the state tries to revive the economy of Siberia and the Far East.
“This year we’ll complete a strategic task: We will provide for automobile traffic from Moscow through to Vladivostok on a safe route,” Putin said.
