Belbazem block

First oil should flow in 2023

Belbazem block

Located 120 km northwest of Abu Dhabi city, the Belbazem Block consists of 3 marginal offshore fields:
  • Belbazem
  • Umm Al Salsal
  • Umm Al Dholou
Upon completion, the block is expected to produce 45,000 b/d of oil and 765,000 cu m/day of gas, while maintaining reservoir pressure support with water injection.
Technical and commercial proposals were submitted in the 4th quarter of 2019.

In 2021 ADNOC has awarded a $744 million contract for the full field development of the Belbazem Offshore Block as it expands its production capacity to 5 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2030.

UAE´s ADNOC unit Al Yasat Petroleum Operations Company and joint venture with China´s CNPC awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract to the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC).

Adnoc and CNPC hold 60 % and 40 % stakes in Al Yasat respectively, underpinning the strong bilateral ties and energy partnership between the UAE and China.
As part of the process leading up to the EPC award, Al Yasat undertook a front-end engineering design (Feed) competition among the bidders to optimise the project.

This initiative reduced the originally scheduled tender time by up to 12 months by removing the need for the technical bidding process for the EPC stage and has enabled savings of $190 million in capital expenditure.
